IET Venues make an impact at this years Meeting Show

Client: The IET
Venue: Olympia
Event: The Meetings Show
Solution: Versaform Build

The IET and Guardian Display have a long history of working together to produce fantastic exhibition stands. The latest incarnation we produced was launched at Square Meal 2014, which featured a fantastic CGI fly-through video of IET’s newly refurbished building, showcased on a 75” recessed screen. The reusability of our VersaformBuild system meant that, when the client asked us to produce the stand for The Meetings Show 2015, it was a hassle-free and cost-effective arrangement.

The bones of the stand and graphics remained largely the same, only with a few minor shape changes and adaptations from its original 7x2 configuration to a 6.5 x 3 set-up. The adaptability of the system allowed us to use the majority of last years’ stand, without the client having to buy a whole new system for this year.

Although some of these changes were aesthetic, some were born out of necessity. A large pillar intruded on the space, which required us to snake the framework around it. Due to the ultra-easy connectivity and custom modular components of the system, we were able do this with ease and efficiency. Our ability to pre-build our stands before exhibitions also allowed us to be extra-prepared for the situation, without relying on guesswork or estimations.

The stand was complemented with the IET’s classic AstroTurf style flooring, London Underground carpet, branded iPad stand and Flux chair with a free-standing literature holder and a transparent partition to create a private, but welcoming meeting room area.

This incarnation of the IET’s stand was another shining example of how the Versaform Build system can be used in multiple environments with its unique structure and flexibility. Using the system and allowing us to handle its project management has saved our clients almost as many hours as pounds, allowing them vital time to focus on their sales and marketing.

All Work and No Play...

All Work and No Play…

Last Thursday, the Guardian Display team were lucky enough to be invited to IET London: Savoy Place for a party being hosted by The IET in celebration of their multi-million pound venue refurbishment.

It seemed that it wasn't just Guardian Display who decided that this particular summer’s day shouldn't be spent in the office. A brief stop-off at the Sky Lounge atop The Hilton Double Tree confirmed our suspicions. Wave after wave of people, who had their suit jackets over their shoulders, ascended to the Rum Shack for a cheeky post-work Mojito (or two).

We gazed at some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including the soon-to-be Leadenhall Building that is being constructed by valued clients Lang O’Rourke. After a casual drink in the summer sun, we made our way to IET London: Savoy Place in a cab that nearly left two of us behind!

We arrived at the home of the IET with plenty of excitement for the evening. We were greeted at the reception and lead to the IET’s refurbishment party. The conversation was flowing, the music was excellent, and the view from the balcony was immaculate. There is nothing quite like sipping champagne whilst looking at the London Eye, Big Ben, London Bridge and the River Thames all in one breath-taking panorama.

Our team was greeted by faces we knew, and plenty more that we didn’t, whilst the fantastic waiting staff brought plate after plate of delicious food that would have been rude to refuse. Introductions were made and old contacts were reintroduced, whilst the wonderful Party Pianos filled the room with a seemingly endless range of brilliant covers of party favourites.

After a night of endless song requests, plenty of food and one or two drinks, the Guardian Display team called it a night. We said our goodbyes and gave our thanks to IET for organising a brilliant party, and wished them the best of luck with their near £30,000,000 refurbishment. They gifted us with a goody bag filled with chocolates and wine, which was greatly received.  It’s an exciting time to be involved with The IET, and we were pleased to be a part of their renovation festivities.

We’d like to wish the IET the best of luck, and we hope that their revamp will bring them even more success in the future.

A Scandinavian Set Up

It was about six months ago that The IET decided they needed a change. They had been appointed to organise the CIRED 2013 event at the Kistamassen venue in Sweden. After a lot of collaboration and discussion, they decided that innovation was going to be the key to their success. The company approached us to design, produce, set-up and break down their new stand. They told us that they wanted a stand that really showed off their new corporate identity, and showcased the IET’s key sectors.

We used our Versaform Build custom modular system for the framework of the stand, and we utilised high pressure water CNC machines to cut the IET logos into the aluminium gantries. We then added our shelving system to the back of one tower, which allowed the client to display their publications. Finally, we brought their piece to life using LED lights and acrylic standoffs.

The Guardian fitting team travelled across road and water, on one of the longest bridges in the world to safely transport the stand to the venue. Then, on June 10th, members of the electricity distribution community from all over the world descended on the small town of Kisa, Sweden for CIRED 2013. CIRED covers the entire field of electricity distribution systems, dispersed and embedded generation issues, and associated services.

There was no doubt about it, this was a huge show in order to raise IET’s profile, and they needed to make an impact.

We are proud to say that we helped the IET make that impact. After some great feedback and a successful show, we broke down the stand and brought everything safely back to our storage area in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Now, instead of spending thousands of pounds every year on a new custom build stand, The IET can call on Guardian Display to re-shape, re-configure and re-use their existing stand, without having to worry about the enormous repeat building fees.

The IET have already discovered the cost saving benefits of the Versaform Build system, and are now reaping the benefits, despite only being in their second year of business with us. If you would like more information on how Guardian Display can do the same for your company, then give us a call.
